Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes believes the Bavarians have confirmed their upward trend after beating Kaiserslautern 2-0 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Mario Gomez opened the scoring for Bayern at the Allianz Arena early on and Thomas Muller made it two just past the half hour mark to secure three important points in the race for the title.
Heynckes praised his team's defensive discipline and was delighted by the fact that his men kept another clean-sheet.
"It's proof of our upward trend. It was a fully merited win, and we played very good football at times," the 66-year-old is quoted as saying on Bayern Munich's official website.
"It was not easy in the first half, because Kaiserslautern defended extremely well, but we created some gilt-edged chances after the break. We could have won by a lot more.
"I am especially pleased with the way we defended. We’ve kept another clean sheet and basically shut out the opposition. I’m delighted about that."
Bayern Munich are currently second in the Bundesliga table, two points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.
