FIFA To Vote On Goal-Line Technology In March
The games governing body to review proposed technologies from November
FIFA have anounced that the International Football Association Board (IFAB) are to carry out testing procedures on proposed goal-line technologies before voting in their Annual General Meeting of March 2011.
The 2010 IFAB annual general meeting took place at Celtic Manor, Newport on Wednesday where the board members of the IFAB agree to re-open the issue of goal-line technology with certain pre-requisites.
These pre-requisites include limiting the use of technology to providing information only on the state of a ball being across the line or not and no other part of the game.
Another interesting restriction held on any proposed technologies is the fact that the outcome, whether the ball has crossed the line or not, must be decided and translated to the officials within one second of the event.
The deadline for companies to submit their technologies regarding goal-line decision making is the end of November 2010, with a testing period then beginning up to the next annual general meeting of the IFAB.
The next meeting, held in March 2011 at the same venue, Celtic Manor, will be the 125th annual general meeting of the International Football Association Board.
