Official: Graham Arnold Announced As New Central Coast Mariners Manager
Lawrie McKinna to remain with the club in a new capacity.
By Chris Paraskevas
It brings to an end McKinna’s five-year reign at the helm of the Mariners, the Scottish manager having been with the club since its birth, guiding it to two A-League Grand Finals.
He now moves into a new role as the club’s Football and Commercial Operations Manager, extending his current contract – which was due to expire at the end of the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season – by a further year in the process.
McKinna will work side by side with Arnold in the running of the Football Department, and will also take on a greater role in the Football Operations and the Commercial areas of the club, which will see him actively involved in the club’s relationship with current and potential partners.
Arnold - currently the assistant to Australia manager Pim Verbeek - has meanwhile signed a contract until the end of the 2012/13 season and makes a return to domestic football in a managerial capacity after a nine year exodus.
“Lawrie has played a significant role in bringing this appointment to fruition,” said Mariners Chief Executive Lyall Gorman.
"I know that he looks forward to building a long and fruitful partnership with Graham.”
