Melbourne Victory announce the signing of defender Ubay Luzardo from Hong Kong side Kitchee SC
The Spanish defender joins the two-time A-League champions on loan for the rest of the current campaign and provides some much-needed depth in defence

Melbourne Victory have announced the signing of Spanish defender Ubay Luzardo from Hong Kong First Division side Kitchee SC.
Luzardo, 28, has been on trial at the A-League for the last two weeks and now joins the former A-League champions on loan for the rest of the season.
Victory interim coach Jim Magilton said he was impressed with the how the Spaniard trained and hopes he can provide the club with some much-needed depth in defence.
“Ubay is a big, strong boy, who moves well for a player of his size,” Magilton said in a club statement.
“He’s done everything right in his short time with the club and will provide more stability to our defence and also give us some flexibility with the personnel we currently have.”
Luzardo began his professional career at Las Palmas in the Spanish La Liga and spent six seasons playing in the Tercera Division before moving to Hong Kong side Kitchee SC.
The defender went on to win the Hong Kong First Division title and took part in the 2011 Barclays Trophy, captaining the side against English Premier League clubs Chelsea and Blackburn Rovers.
The two-time champions will be hoping that the 28-year-old can bring some stability to their ailing back four as they begin their late push for the finals.
Victory currently sit eighth on the ladder and will be looking to take all three points when they face top-of-the-table Central Coast Mariners on Friday night.
