Aston Villa's Australian Chris Herd is not far away from returning to action after he suffered an ankle injury in December.
The Perth-born midfielder, 22, has made nine appearances for Aston Villa this season and is looking to make more not only for club but for country as well.
Herd, who remains uncapped at international level, received his debut call-up for Australia's last fixtures against Oman and Thailand but had to pull out of the squad due to injury.
His return to fitness now could come in time for this month's World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia.
Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish explained the Australian was no longer feeling the effects of his ankle problem and was close to a Premier League return after breaking into the side this term.
"Herd is making very good progress," McLeish told reporters. "He is now working one to one with the physio who is putting him through his paces.
"He is not feeling his injury at all now which is great news and the kid is really positive about getting himself fit again to try and challenge to get back into the team. He was doing really well before the injury."
