Dwight Yorke and Benito Carbone join running for Sydney FC coaching job
Interest appears to be mounting in the Sydney FC coaching role, with the ex-Sky Blues pair joining the race to replace Vitezslav Lavicka at the end of the season

The names continue to stack up in the search for Sydney FC's new coach, with former players Dwight Yorke and Benito Carbone both reportedly showing interest in the role.
The A-League outfit announced on February 4 that incumbent coach Vitezslav Lavicka would depart the post at the end of the 2011-12 season, sparking immediate speculation about his potential replacement.
Former English Premier League stars Gianfranco Zola and Roy Keane were linked with the role within days, while Central Coast Mariners coach Graham Arnold is the local favourite.
Now, Carbone and Yorke appear to have joined the running.
The Australian claims the former is interested in returning to Sydney FC, where the attacking midfielder spent a short stint during the 2006-07.
The Italian's career included stops at Napoli and Inter in his homeland, before stays of note with Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa in the English Premier League.
Carbone's first coaching job was with Italian third-tier outfit Pavia, before a four-month stint with Varese in Serie B ended in October.
Yorke, meanwhile, confirmed to AAP on Sunday of his interest in the role.
"I'm absolutely interested in coaching Sydney," the former Manchester United star said. "I've been there as a player and know what success is all about in Sydney."
Yorke was the Sky Blues' marquee player and captain, guiding the club to the title in the A-League's inaugural season.
He left after just one campaign, returning to England with then-Championship outfit Sunderland.
Yorke spent time as an assistant at the North-East club, and is set to take a role with Manchester United's reserve team.
He would be open to a move back to Sydney, however, where he scored seven goals in 21 matches.
"I also think it's the right time, at 40, to start a manager's job," Yorke said.
"With the experience of 24 years as a player and having played the game at the highest level, I feel I could offer something special to Sydney FC."
