Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic: We have to win something for our country
The Black Stars will be looking to appease their angry fans with a bronze medal as they meet the Eagles of Mali once again on Saturday
By Kent Mensah
Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic has now turned his attention to winning bronze after having lost a chance to make it to the final of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars will square off with the Eagles of Mali for the second time in the competition, and will be hoping to finish off with a third place medal.
“We deserved to be in the final but now we need to fight for third position and that’s our focus,” the Serbian told the press on Friday. “It’s our new goal and I am sure that Ghana has a great future.”
Ghana beat Mali 2-0 in the group stages and that will serve as motivation to win the losers’ final. Plavi believes returning home with a medal is far better than going empty handed.
“We want to finish our job, want to win something for our country, Ghana. I think that we played very, very well against Zambia.
“We did fantastic, maybe it was the game of the tournament. And for that I think the third position is not bad and winning medals for our country is very important,” he said.
