Zambia coach Herve Renard: I don’t think Cote d’Ivoire will underrate us

The Frenchman says he has a great deal of respect for the one-time African champions and hopes the west Africans reciprocate, or they will be in for a defeat

Zambia coach Herve Renard says that Cote d'Ivoire will be inviting trouble for themselves if they underestimate the abilities of the southern Africans in the final of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Frenchman said he has a great deal of respect for the west Africans, but by the blast of the final whistle on Sunday, the Chipolopolo will be lifting their maiden Nations Cup trophy.

“I don’t think Cote d'Ivoire will underrate Zambia, they have respect for us and we also have a lot of respect for them but we want to beat them,” Renard told a press conference.

“We will be in a tough game. It will be tough game, like the game against Ghana.”

Zambia beat Ghana 1-0 on Wednesday to progress to the ultimate game of the tournament against an Ivorian side that is yet to concede a defeat, or a goal for that matter.
