Bruno Metsu interested in coaching Senegal following their 2012 Afcon exit
The Al-Gharafa manager is enticed by a possible return to the team he took to the 2002 World Cup
By Rami Ayari
Al-Gharafa manager Bruno Metsu has admitted his interest in coaching Senegal in the near future.
The news comes in the wake of the Ternaga Lions’ bitterly disappointing 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) first round exit that resulted in the sacking of Amara Traore.
“I’m interested because, sporting-wise, everyone is interested by what happens in Senegal. Now the ball is in the court of the federation and the minister of sports. My heart is in it,” explained the Frenchman while speaking to Stades.
Metsu added that he believed Senegal’s troubles against Zambia, Equatorial Guinea, and Libya at this year's edition of the continental showcase were down to a lack of chemistry between the players and that he could solve the issue to lift the west African nation’s football team back to the level of the 2002, when he presided over their dream run at the World Cup.
