Galatasaray’s Emmanuel Eboue escapes fan attack in Turkey
The former Arsenal player was the target of hooligans on Monday during his side’s 2-0 away win over rivals Besiktas away from home in the Super Lig
Galatasaray defender Emmanuel Eboue found himself on the receiving end of some rough treatment from Besiktas fans during the Istanbul derby on April 16.
The Ivorian was pelted with water bottles and cigarette lighters during a November meeting between the two local rivals after the Inonu faithful took exception to the former Arsenal man's play-acting.
In yet another troublesome incident, he was assailed on Monday during his side’s return fixture against Besiktas, which ended 2-0 in favour of the Turk Telekom Arena side.
Besiktas’ supporters hurled plastic bottles at the Cote d’Ivoire international on the sidelines as he was about to take a throw in. A fan later entered the pitch to confront Eboue but was stopped by security and his team-mates.
Besiktas will be forced to play two games behind close doors because of the incident.| Sign up with William Hill for a free bet up to £25 |
