Nicklas Bendtner Promises A 'Major Impact' On Arsenal's Season
Fit-again Dane reckons Gunners have missed his presence...
By Mick Maguire
Nicklas Bendtner is ready to make his mark at Arsenal as he eyes a starting spot in this weekend's blockbuster Premier League clash against Chelsea.
The young striker returned from injury as a substitute in the Gunners' goalless draw at Aston Villa last week, followed by another cameo from the bench in Sunday's 3-1 mauling by Manchester United.
“I’ve played two games because there haven’t been other strikers available, so we took a bit of a chance with my fitness," he told The Mirror.
"I was completely fit against Villa, but it's a gradual thing so I was on the bench against United.
"I still feel progress from day to day, so I definitely thinks that I soon will be completely fit."
Those recent results have put a sizeable dint in Arsenal's title ambitions, but Bendtner believes he is just the man to get his team back on track.
"When I get back to full strength, I’ll be able to make a major impact," he said.
"We have different types of striker who can do different things, and I think the team has missed a type like me.
"We didn’t get going against Manchester United but now we get another chance on Sunday [against Chelsea] which we must take 100 per cent.
"We've still got a chance if we win that match. If not? Well, then it’s hard to say how it will develop."
