Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger watches on in frustration as his team lose to Manchester United in the Champions League
Arsenal have confirmed today that vuvuzelas will not be allowed into the Emirates this season, becoming the latest club to ban the World Cup's signature instrument from their ground.

The Gunners' north London neighbours Tottenham Hotspur issued a similar ban on Monday, with Championship clubs Cardiff City, Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton having already done likewise.

"Further to their hugely debated involvement at this summer's World Cup finals in South Africa, Arsenal Football Club has decided to forbid the use of vuvuzelas within Emirates Stadium with immediate effect," a statement on the Gunners' official website reads.

"This decision has been taken to ensure the enjoyment and safety of supporters on Matchdays, which is of paramount importance to the club."

Premier League new boys Blackpool are bucking the trend with regard to the issue, however, and are encouraging fans of the Seasiders to bring vuvuzelas to Bloomfield Road once the season begins.
