Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs believes the arrival of Thierry Henry has boosted the spirits of the Gunners squad.

Henry arrived last week on a two-month loan deal from the New York Red Bulls and made an immediate impact by scoring on his second debut for the club against Leeds in the 1-0 FA Cup win on Monday.

Gibbs, who watched the striker as a youngster, says it was a special feeling to see the 34-year-old find the net once again in a Gunners shirt and believes his influence in the dressing room is having a positive effect already.

“When I was a young boy I used to watch him, so it was pretty amazing [to see Henry score against Leeds],” he told the club’s official website.

“I never got the chance to meet him before, but he has come back and shown what a true legend he is.

“He has added something to the dressing room, not just on the pitch. We know he can’t play every game but his personality has come in and lifted the whole changing room. It is a pleasure to have him in the squad again.”
