Kia Joorabchian: Carlos Tevez and Roberto Mancini almost came to blows at Manchester City

Kia Joorabchian, representative of Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez, has revealed that the Argentine striker and his manager Roberto Mancini almost came to blows following a match last season.

Joorabchian said on behalf of Tevez: ”After last season’s home game with Newcastle I had a row with Mancini. We almost hit each other in the dressing room, but the following day we spoke. Mancini is a winner and I am a winner too. None of us like to lose. 

“I wasn't playing well at West Ham but I worked hard and turned things around. Now I'm looking forward to coming back to Manchester City to prove [myself] to the fans yet again. I know that this time I will have to play even better than I did the first time around.”

Questions remain over the fitness of Tevez after missing out on a large part of the Premier League season, but the striker believes that it won't take long for him to be ready and fighting for a place in the first team.

Joorabchian quoted Tevez saying: “There is no need for City to give me two training sessions a day, I will do that naturally, I will do my best.”

The player's representative also declared his client's intent to help the Citizens to a Premier League trophy, and also his belief that any issues between Mancini and Tevez will be resolved behind closed doors.

He added: “The main objective that Carlos stated in his interview: if he can, and he's permitted to get back on the pitch he will do his best to help Manchester City win the title. That's what he's hoping for.

"I think this is between Mancini and Carlos. One of the things that is important is that Mancini and Carlos resolve their issues, and I think, pretty much, that they have resolved their issues behind closed doors. What is important is that the football takes over. 

"The reality is that at the end of the day, if Carlos can help City and City want that help from Carlos to win the title between now and the end of the season, then that's what needs to happen.”

Joorabchian was also quick to note that the Argentine must mend his relationship with the club's supporters.

He: “He has a lot of repairs to do with the fans, and he realises that, and he is prepared to do that. And he has said that he sincerely never felt he was doing anything wrong at the time. He understands that his actions may not have implied that.”
