Carlos Tevez: The rumours about transfers are true but I still belong to Manchester City

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has admitted that he came close to exiting the club last month but is willing to make another attempt at life in the Premier League.

The former Manchester United man has been residing in Argentina since his spat with manager Roberto Mancini in which he seemingly refused to come on from the bench during City’s loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League back in September.

Following the fallout with the Italian, Tevez was linked with several top clubs and it was thought he would join Serie A outfit AC Milan before the deal fell through.

Ahead of his return to Manchester, the 28-year-old accused Mancini of treating him like a dog and concedes he was close to walking away from the club.

"All the rumours about transfers are true, but they were not achieved and I belong to City,” he told reporters. "So I have to go back there."

Although their relationship has deteriorated, Mancini has been open towards the idea of having Tevez back playing at the club as the title race enters a pivotal stage and the striker also seems willing to try to make it work.

"I've got two-and-a-half-years to accomplish yet and then I'll get more chances," said Tevez.

"Now I will face the challenge and for me that is to come back to training and also to see all of my colleagues."

Asked how he thinks fans will welcome him, he said: "We will see."
