Arsenal defender Jenkinson: Podolski & Giroud are world class
The 20-year-old explains that the squad look forward to playing with the summer's two attacking additions, and recalls his pride at recording an assist in Saturday's friendly
Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson has stated that the club's two new forwards, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, are "world class", and believes that the pair will make a great contribution this season.Germany international Podolski has 101 international caps at just 27 years of age, and agreed a deal to arrive from Koln before the club season had ended.
25-year-old Giroud, meanwhile, enjoyed a breakout season as he scored 21 league goals to help Montpellier win Ligue 1 and earn a place in the France squad for Euro 2012, before signing for the Gunners after Les Bleus exited the tournament.
"They are two world-class players, they are fantastic signings and fantastic assets for this club," Jenkinson told the club’s official website.

The 20-year-old right back started the club's first pre-season encounter in the Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup, as Arsenal faced Anderlecht and Southampton in two 45-minute matches at St. Mary's Stadium.
Jenkinson crossed for Henri Lansbury to score the winning goal in the club's 1-0 victory against Anderlecht, with the Gunners going on to win the tournament, and felt that they benefited from the game time provided in the pre-season warm-up games.
He added: "It was nice to get an assist. I always try to get as many as I can, so it was good to get one here.
"Against Anderlecht it wasn't like we dominated, but I felt we were in control and got that vital goal. But the main thing though was getting minutes under our belts at this stage in pre-season."
