Though Marouane Chamakh has been subject to a great deal of transfer speculation over the course of the last few weeks, the Girondins de Bordeaux forward is insistent he is simply focusing on the forthcoming clash against Olympique de Marseille.

OM have not won in Bordeaux for 32 years, and Chamakh is eager to extend that run a little longer.

“Whether it’s Marseille or another team, I am a winner, I do not like to loose anything,” he told France Football. “I hope to give the best of me, play like I know and not allow anything to pass me by.

“We approach [this fixture] with the same motivation as in previous seasons. We know that this is a game not to lose.

“We will do everything to win this match but also try to bring pleasure to our fans by ensuring there is a show. This is crucial because Marseille are coming to win.”

Bordeaux command a healthy nine-point advantage at the summit of Le Championnat and will be aware that victory on Sunday evening will push them a giant 14 points clear of les Phoceens, effectively eliminating one of their fiercest rivals from the title hunt at the halfway stage.
