Marseille Sporting Director Jose Anigo Complains His Side Are Like ‘Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde’
The official believes that OM’s hopes of glory in Le Championnat hang on a knife edge. If les Phoceens are to achieve anything this term, he says, their inconsistencies must be ironed out.

Olympique de Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo has lamented the inconsistencies of the Provence club, complaining that their hopes of landing the Ligue 1 title have almost vanished, despite the season having only recently passed its halfway mark.
OM tackle Toulouse in the first Coupe de la Ligue semi-final on Wednesday evening, but their hopes were truly pinned to a title push in Le Championnat. Big summer investment suggested a strong tilt at Girondins de Bordeaux’s crown, though those hopes have faded after a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to second-placed Montpellier last weekend.
“Today we blew hot and cold,” Anigo told L’Equipe. “We had been very good against Lille [in a 2-1 victory] three days before going to Montpellier. It's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.”
“We need to stop talking about the championship. The title will be difficult [to win] because we have dropped in the race, even though I still say it is feasible. We must cling to second or third place.”
Bordeaux continue to be the dominant side in France, enjoying a comfortable six-point cushion over persistent surprise challengers Montpellier. Lille are ranked third, two marks further back, while Marseille are presently seventh, staring at a 12-point deficit to Laurent Blanc’s league-leading outfit.
