Girondins De Bordeaux Defender Marc Planus: Primera Division Entices Me
The centre-back has spoken of his discontent with the French champions, explaining that he no longer feels indispensable to their cause...
By Robin Bairner
Concerned that he has not been offered a new contract by present employers Girondins de Bordeaux, Marc Planus has indicated that he will consider the possibility of moving to Spain at the end of the current campaign.
The centre-back has explained that he has seen several other players, including Benoit Tremoulinas, Alou Diarra, Henrique and David Bellion, awarded with new three or four-year deals at the club but no progress has been made with regard to his situation, despite his deal being up in 18 months.
“[The board] must negotiate in alphabetical order, or they have lost my number,” he joked to France Football. “If I am last, is it for me to decipher a message. Is this an oversight? Am I no longer a priority?”
With this in mind, the 27-year-old, who has spent his entire career with les Girondins, is plotting his next move.
“Spain tempts me greatly. They play football in La Liga. It is quite technical. My game fits with this philosophy,” he stated, before explaining why he sees the summer as an ideal time to depart.
“I still want to leave compensation to Bordeaux as a reward for the club for having trained me.
“I will not leave like a thief.”
The final comment is perhaps a barb aimed at team-mate Marouane Chamakh, who has refused to pen a new deal with the club and is poised to leave for the Premier League in the summer on a free transfer.
